Frilly Frills - Choom

This outfit was originally worn to a Lolita meet in Paris. I needed to throw something together from the bits and bobs I had in my suitcase since I had just come from Japan. I don't own much Lolita styled clothing so I did the best with what I had and I think it turned out pretty well!

Since Choom has made a triumphant return to London we decided to do a little bit of celebrating over tea for two at Sketch London. It's a fabulous venue, with all the decor curated by artists including the toilets! We love a theme so we dressed up to match the room that we would be dining in, the Gallery.

Since my year in Tokyo is coming to an end soon *boohoo* I'm squeezing in as much sightseeing as possible! Last week I went on a little trip to Kobe and Osaka. While I was there I had to visit Universal Studios Japan, it's like Disneyland...but filled with Minions. And Elmo.

So last year Choom & I went to Hyper Japan together but now that she's experiencing the real thing, I decided to go solo! Well this time along I brought my friend Rory, who is just as fabulous. If you've forgotten, Hyper Japan is a festival based in London celebrating Japanese culture with lots of interesting stalls and activities.

We like to change our hair a lot, and with this it often alters the feel of the outfit. So we completely switched it up this week and wore pink wigs and tbh we're loving it. They can change up a look in an instant, which we're constantly doing, so well worth an investment!

You know that age old stereotype of girls wearing pink and boys in blue, well that's all changing now and people are realising colour doesn't define you! We wanted to celebrate that by switching the colours normally associated with each gender. Choom attempted a more typical masculine look using mostly the colour pink and Shady wore feminine clothes in blue.

It's cherry blossom season in Japan so our outfit post this week is in honour of that! In Japan the act of 'hanami', cherry blossom viewing, is an important event which everyone participates in every year. This year, Choom did her first ever hanami three times!

Choom - Pixel Gal

I was inspired by Akihabara, the Otaku/gaming capital of Tokyo, to shoot this outfit. I like anime and gaming but I wouldn't call myself an otaku at all. I think the aesthetics of this area are really cool, especially at night when it's all lit up or even during the day it's pretty buzzing. I couldn't find a really cool spot to showcase the area unfortunately but if you're ever in Tokyo I would recommend visiting!

It's officially cold and we want to be warm, and stylish! Isn't it the hardest thing to be both? We sometimes feel like throwing on a onesie and our comfiest shoes (we own flat shoes believe it or not!) to wear on bitter wintery days. But it is possible to be practical and cute!
